For some families, the school year is looming large and the transition back to routines and homework feels too soon. Way too soon! For others, the first day of school can't come fast enough.
Either way, I have one tip and one red hot resource to help you make the best of it.
1. Stop Your Child from Nagging You
Nagging. It's not just for moms! Many kids nag their parents when they want something. They beg and repeat and whine at us to see if we'll give them more screen time, more sweets, more bedtime stories, more more more!
Here's a quick script you can say to end your child's nagging and finally put the conversation to rest.
"Sweetie, there's nothing you can say or do that will change my mind about this. Sorry."
It's that easy. Your child needs to feel your loving limit to trust it. Show your child that you're a sturdy parent and be kind about it!
Give it a try and let me know if it works.
2. Does Your Child Struggle with "Executive Functioning"? (Time Sensitive Opp!)
Seth Perler is my go-to expert for all questions related to kids and executive functioning. If your child:
crumbles papers in the bottom of their backpack
forgets where they put things
can't keep track of homework
doesn't remember a simple list of tasks
struggles to start or finish basic things
struggles with time management, emotion management and social management skills...THEN PAY ATTENTION!
When I first saw Seth on YouTube, I knew he was a golden resource for my community, so I invited him to be a guest speaker for my "moms of boys group."
This week, Seth is hosting a FREE event starting THIS FRIDAY and you don't want to miss it!
It's 4 days long and Seth is offering an early bird VIP package where you can pay a reduced fee to get full access - sale ends at midnight on Thursday, August 8th (that's in 2 days!).
If you don't have time this weekend or want to give yourself room to listen to the entire summit, then this will be money well spent!
Let me know if you signed up and if it transformed your everyday challenges.
❤️ Rachel
P.S. Quick reminder that I'm also hosting a free event this week on August 8th, 2024 called "How to do a Back-to-School Family Reset." Details and registration are HERE.
